Why is Zcash moving today?

Zcash is essentially unchanged, trading at $1,553 after a 0.2% move over 24 hours and a 0.1% slip on the week — a pause rather than a trend, with $1.22B of volume against a $26.32B market cap keeping it at rank #9.

The week's biggest ZEC-specific story has cut both ways. Researchers at [alloc] init — Clara Shikhelman and Mikhail Komarov — published a "Shielded Bitcoin" spec that would bring Zcash-style zero-knowledge private transfers to Bitcoin without a soft fork, a potential competitive threat to privacy coins, though Komarov calls the technique experimental and costing about four times a normal transaction in fees. Zcash co-founder Eli Ben-Sasson publicly backed the design. On the supportive side, Grayscale's Zcash ETF has passed $915M in assets.
